A little late to the party, but like P!nk, I gotta say what I have to say.
This nudie thing matters to me.
Am I adding fuel to the fire? No. I'm actually kind of ON fire right now.
I've stood by, rolling my eyes at attention mongers since time and I need this release:
I understand that a woman's idea of empowerment is as unique as she is and nudies are obviously Kim's choice. I say Teflon the backlash, do the nudie thing you do and just OWN it. Grow some extra layers of skin, be OK that your daughter might follow in your footsteps, let that open letter be the end of explaining yourself and the start of finding a place where you don't need this validation that you seek.
If you really do love your body, shouldn't that be enough? YOU and you alone. Why expect the world to understand, unless you need that too?
IMHO, there are more challenging ways for women to feel empowered than feeling sexy and I hope that more young women are up to that challenge.
At the very least, Kim's nudie is inspiring more of us to speak up on where we stand, so thank you for that much, Kim.
